Oh my God: 1.1

Shame? Nokia?

Same sentence, as in Shame and Nokia?

There is just no pride in IT anymore. Backbones are long gone too.

 Apple vs. Dell

This is why one should buy best of both worlds. Mac rules on a client. Dell is quite competitive on the (home) server market.

We don't care about cables around servers. Yet.

So? 'nuff said.

 Apple iPhone Hacking

There's some serious iPhone hacking going on during the last week or so.

Here's the wiki page, that has lots of information on the project. Main devs, working on the unlock problem are from US and Hungary as it seems.

The forum is here. Deliverables here.

The progress is steady. There is a now a way to issue commands to the system, including moving of files, activation (which was achieved in three days) and directory listing inside the sandboxed filesystem.

I'm following the progress (with Hana - she's cheering along), because it's fun to know the internals of a locked down Apple device.

All Things Digital: Jobs + Gates

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate, $499.

Apple iPhone, $599.

Jobs and Gates sitting together. Priceless.

 Battle for the Living Room

Microsoft is currently kicking Apple's ass.

Well, this was a bold statement. Let me rephrase.

Microsoft is winning the battle for the living room. It is well known, that whoever wins this battle is going to win the war for 'Complete Media Experience'. Microsoft's strategy is based on Xbox 360, ZuneWindows Media Center and Windows Vista.

On November 22nd one will be able to watch a TV show, sync with Zune, play music/games and stream videos on an Xbox.

Apple should be doing this, but they are late in the game. A full screen iPod is lagging. So is iTV. There is still no product in the public pipeline that could compete with Media Center. It's video offering is, at this time, shameful.

It's going to be a fun 2007.

 Apple finally did it

It happened today.

One of the best PC hardware makers is allowing one of the best software makers to run natively on its machines.

The world is uniting, which is a GoodThing(tm).

Soon there will be time, when we're gonna boot The Windows Beast on The Beautiful Machine.
